Whirlpool Top-Freezer Refrigerator

I ordered this in June to be delivered the third week of July. It was to replace an ailing 19 year old Frigidaire. I was left to hook up the built in ice maker because the delivery people did not bring the necessary parts. Cool down time was about 22 hours for temperatures to stabilize. Whirlpool only includes two shelves and a wire support rack for the ice cube container. After stabilizing, the temperatures and defrost cycles stayed consistent although the freezer never fully reached zero degrees as expected. The built in shelf supports were inconveniently spaced and "tall" space for larger items was lost. The door's built in shelves were able to accommodate most condiments and such, but one smaller section could only handle the smallest jars less than 4 inches. Of course, some full size (16oz or larger) containers won't fit so those go on the bottom shelf way in the back. The factory ice maker does a great job producing ice regularly, but the position of the ice maker and design of the ice bucket lets the ice cubes closet to the rear of the freezer fall onto the bottom of the freezer compartment. Luckily a damp paper towel makes clean up quick, but unnecessary. The overall design seems like something a high school student or collage freshman dreamed up without considering application. Overall, the function of the freezer and refrigerator get high marks for temperature consistency. The shelf placement/door space leaves room for improvement. If Whirlpool had the adjustable shelves as did the Frigidaire, it would place higher on my recommendation. The power cord was about 14 inches shorter than the one it replaced and put on the opposite side of the unit away from the outlet so being able to clean behind and under is almost impossible without unplugging it. The appliance manager supplied an appliance extension cord so the warranty isn't voided. To clean the compressor area, the cover needs too many screws removed. I highly recommend caution before buying this model.
